In a book called A New Earth the author Eckhart Tolle talks about "Our Inherited Dysfunction"... he refers to the mental illness common to most human beings which he calls "the vial of delusion" causing pain, suffering and misery in the human condition. That, in spite of our great intelligence and skills we live unskillfully and blindly which causes suffering. He says, "No doubt the human being is highly intelligent... Yet this very intelligence is tainted by madness. Science and technology have magnified the destructive impact that the dysfunction of the human mind has upon our planet, other life forms and upon ourselves.... he says that there is a collective insanity among human beings and that its effect is intensifying and accelerating."

He points to fear, greed and the desire for power in the human psyche that is at the heart and root of this dysfunction or collective mental illness that is present in mankind. He says that humans suffer more at the hands of each other than natural disasters. This is due to science and technology increasing these methods of destruction. The ability to destroy has only increased with time... and he makes the point that the human race must either evolve away from this destructive momentum or die.

I think is is correct.

It is my conclusion that humanity must evolve spiritually (not religiously)
and away from obsessions with material things.

Formal religions, although they give personal comfort to many individuals,
have not diminished war, hatred, racism and human destruction.

This is because they deal more with an after life than real life here on earth. A true spirituality on the other hand deals with everyday life and tries to build a world in which people are happy and satisfied. This could also be called the Kingdom of God on Earth.

All we need to do is look around to see that religions that are a few thousand years old have failed to do this. In fact the tax breaks that they get from a destructive government shuts them up regarding moral issues that they all preach about: Thou shalt not murder... Thou shalt not kill. When have we heard any church or synagogue in America talk about the useless killing in Iraq and Afghanistan? I think never.

This is why I say: America needs a new identity. We must no longer be known as the world's number one military super power. Afghanistan and Iraq are are both sewers or endless wars that are slaughtering our young men and women, and financially bleeding our country to death.

Yet our politicians adhere to this mental dysfunction of purposeless killing driven by greed and power, which is no better exemplified than by the presidential candidate John McCain who says: "It doesn't matter how long were are Iraq, as long as we are successful." Tell me John, What constitutes success?

When my son dies for nothing in these distant lands, I already consider this effort a failure. The surprising thing is that you who experienced the useless war in Vietnam is backing the same kind of useless war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
This alone should show the American people that you have no right to lead America.

This military direction and achievement has not brought happiness to the American people. The American government is pouring billions and now trillions of dollars into the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. One must ask the question: What have the American people gotten for this expenditure?.

The answer is absolutely nothing. Our schools are worse than ever... 45 million people in our nation are uninsured... we have been robbed of our great industries... by American Corporations, Banks, and the Wall Street Investment Banking firms who are driven my greed and lust for power.

Our politicians no longer represent the American people, but are bought and paid for by these powers. They have allowed good paying jobs with security benefits to leave America for the cheap labor of China and India and all the other cheap labor countries.

As a result there is are no longer substantial investment in America which is causing
a powerful economic contraction here.

In the present economic system under which we live, know as Capitalism, monetary investment is the life blood of any nation, and America no longer has this life blood pumping through its veins, therefore it must shrink and die… perhaps slowly, but definitely surely.

What must be done? Surely, these political candidates running for the presidency in 2008 don't have a clue... and even if the had a fain inkling, they would have no power to carry out real change because they are owned lock stock and barrel by the Big Corporations, Banks and Wall Street Bankers who own them lock, stock, and barrel. So the future under this present and future political leadership looks dim and without hope. It must be stated that the American Mass Media is a cohort and collaborator in these vicious and destructive policies that have been leading America in a continuous downward spiral.

There is a line in the bible that says: Where there is no vision the people perish. That is exactly what is happening in America today, especially among our young people... they see no real, positive and robust future. The opportunities that once existed in the United States are gone… the American dream has become a nightmare… by the millions Americans are being kicked out of their homes.

When I say that America needs a new identity, I mean that America needs to go in an entirely new and different direction. Our economic and political systems are old and worn out... They are no longer working for the benefit of the the American people. In fact they are now working against the American people.
This is is no longer a government of the people, by the people and for the people. America is no longer a Democracy... it is a Plutocracy: a government by the wealthy and for the wealthy.
The American government is allowing America to become a nation of the very rich and the very poor, while doing nothing about the death of our great middle-class.
